In the event of a power outage, TNMP recommends that customers take the following steps:
- Check to see if the outage is affecting just your home or a wider area. If it’s just your home, check your circuit breaker or fuse box.
- If the outage is affecting a wider area, report it to TNMP by calling the company’s outage hotline at 1-888-866-7456 and selecting option #1.
- Stay away from downed power lines and report them to TNMP immediately.
- Use flashlights or different battery-powered lighting instead of candles.
- Keep your refrigerator and freezer doors closed to keep food fresh as long as possible.
- If you have a medical condition that requires electricity, have a backup plan in place in case of an extended outage.
