Texas-New Mexico Power Company (TNMP) is an electric utility company that serves customers in Texas.

Originally incorporated as Community Public Service Co. in 1934, TNMP now proudly serves more than 260,000 homes and businesses with electricity throughout Texas. Although their formal name is Texas-New Mexico Power Co., do not be mistaken, they now only serve customers in Texas.

TNMP has a long history of providing reliable and affordable electricity to residential, commercial, and industrial customers in the Southwest.

TNMP Service Areas

Unlike other Texas utility companies like Centerpoint and Oncor which serve large areas in a continuous (or almost continuous) cluster, TNMP mainly serves rural areas in Texas that are scattered throughout the state. See the map below to find the TNMP service areas:

TNMP Outage Map

Texas-New Mexico Power Company (TNMP) has an online outage map that allows customers to view the location and status of power outages in their area. The map is updated in real-time and shows the number of customers affected by each outage, as well as the estimated time of restoration. To access the outage map, customers can visit the TNMP website and click on the “View power outage map” link in the top menu, under the “Customers” section.

In the event of a power outage, TNMP recommends that customers take the following steps:

  1. Check to see if the outage is affecting just your home or a wider area. If it’s just your home, check your circuit breaker or fuse box.
  2. If the outage is affecting a wider area, report it to TNMP by calling the company’s outage hotline at 1-888-866-7456 and selecting option #1.
  3. Stay away from downed power lines and report them to TNMP immediately.
  4. Use flashlights or different battery-powered lighting instead of candles.
  5. Keep your refrigerator and freezer doors closed to keep food fresh as long as possible.
  6. If you have a medical condition that requires electricity, have a backup plan in place in case of an extended outage.

TNMP works to restore power as quickly and safely as possible in the event of an outage. The company’s website or phone support will provide updates on the status of outages and estimated restoration times.
