Why Use SlashPlan To Compare Electricity Rates in May?
We tend to get used to the “status quo”. We are busy and have other important things to do during our day. Most people simply think of their energy plan as a “set and forget” plan, which is a dangerous thing to do!
Electricity suppliers are there to make a profit, and they will use different methods to charge you more. They use difficult-to-understand pricing tiers and terminology that is now known to the average consumer.
Without using an energy comparison service like SlashPlan you may not be aware of all discounts you can take advantage of, or the hidden fees that will mysteriously show up on your bill.
Still not sure why? Let me show you a common scenario:
2 energy companies (Company A & Company B) both charge 10¢ per Kilowatt Hour (kWh). You might think that since both companies offer the same price, your bill would be the same. But it wouldn’t!
A standard practice in the energy industry is to offer Tiered Pricing. So you will only pay the advertised rate if your monthly usage falls under that specific tier. If we look back at our case, here’s what we mean:
Company A offers the advertised rate when your monthly usage is ABOVE 2000 kWh.
Company B offers this price when your monthly usage is UNDER 1000 kWh.
Now, let’s repeat the question. Who offers the cheaper price? The proper answer should be — “it depends”! Your bill price will be determined by various parameters such as monthly usage, base charges, usage credits, discounts, time of usage, and more… Calculating how much you’re ACTUALLY going to pay is impossible without taking all these parameters into account.
That’s exactly what we’re here to solve!
We show you the actual, all-inclusive prices that you can expect to pay on your bill. No hidden charges or surprises!
For you to know you’re making the best decision, you need to have all the details in front of your eyes. Including all fees, discounts, and plan terms.
We’ve put all this information at your figure tips.
On our comparison page, you can sort, filter, and shop by price at YOUR specific usage level.
The rates we display on SlashPlan are the rates you’ll actually experience on your bill, inclusive of all hidden fees. We make sure that you’re not misled by the cheaper rates often advertised by electric providers… those advertised rates are associated with higher usage levels that many households never enjoy because their usage level never reaches that pricing tier.
SlashPlan has your best interest in our heart, and when shopping for energy, we are loyal to you. We act on your behalf to level the playing field and let the electric providers fight and compete to earn your business.
We’ll provide you with all the information available, showing you the best deals from the most respected, reputable providers in your area offering the best rates, terms, and customer satisfaction.
Even if you aren’t moving, you can save hundreds of dollars a year by switching providers. If you’re not locked into a contract with your energy provider you are likely overpaying.

Average Homeowner Electricity Rates in May, Texas
The price of energy in Texas is changing all the time. Between 2001-2020, Texans have been paying 11.1¢ kWh (Kilowatt/Hour) on average for their electricity. With prices changing all the time, it’s hard to know if you’re paying a fair price. The rates that you manually worked hard to compile may not be relevant by the time you sign-up. The energy company that gave you the best deal last year may no longer offer the best prices.
Stop wasting time and overpaying for electricity
With SlashPlan you can compare and instantly get up-to-date unbiased energy rates, pre-sorted with the lowest prices showing first.

How To Find A Reliable Energy Company in May?
You may not be aware but in a deregulated energy state like Texas, the energy company that is selling you the electricity is NOT in charge of maintaining the power infrastructure or handling outages. Instead, a different utility company, known as a “TDSP” is in charge of doing that.
That’s confusing, right?
In order for energy prices to stay low and competitive, law-makers in Texas decided to eliminate monopolies by not allowing the TDSP’s to sell energy directly to the end-users.
So the Retail Providers sell you the electricity, but the TDSP’s are the ones delivering that electricity to your home or business, and maintaining the infrastructure, such as power lines and poles.
If you have a power outage, or have an issue with your meter, you will need to contact the utility company that services your area.
What does this mean for us, the retail consumers?
The reason this introduction is important is because now you understand that the Energy Provider you sign up with will not change the “reliability” of your electricity service. You get the same electricity, from the same source, regardless of which provider you sign up with.
So what are the differences between all the other energy providers?
The main differences are that they offer different plans, structures, and prices.
Certain providers may only offer Green Energy Plans, while others may offer No-Deposit, or Short Term Month-To-Month plans.
If prices are the same, then the main differences that you should pay attention to are the provider’s customer service, early termination policy, and ease of communication.
When you sign up for a new plan using SlashPlan, you can be confident that you’re getting a great deal, and will sign up with a reputable energy supplier that has a proven track record of competitive prices and superb customer support.

Your monthly usage – Having your 12-month usage history will allow you to find the best plan for your usage habits.
Rate Type – Do you prefer a fixed-rate or a variable rate plan?
Term Length – 12 months is a standard enrollment term. If prices are low right now, take advantage of the low rates and lock-in a fixed price for 24 months or more!
