We know that not all energy companies are created equal. For that exact reason, hundreds of thousands of customers nationwide choose Spark Energy as their electricity and natural gas provider. When choosing Spark Energy you know you get electricity and natural gas from a proven company that is trustworthy.

In 1999, over 20 years ago Spark Energy was founded in Houston, Texas. They used their expertise to become one of the first companies to participate in the deregulated Retail Energy Industry. With so many years of experience Spark Energy established itself as one of the most dependable and trusted electricity providers in the state of Texas, and in the country overall.

They operate in many states that have deregulated energy and/or gas: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

As a sign of their success, they went public in 2014 as a publicly-traded company under the ticker symbol SPKE in the NASDAQ stock exchange.

Spark Energy stands by its core mission which includes three main pillars: Energy Savings, Community Support, and Customer Service.

Electricity Plans That Spark Energy Offers

Spark Energy offers a combination of 100% renewable and nonrenewable plans with a mixture of term lengths. Most of their plans will have a 12, 24, or 15 month term period. Their plans may not steam the cheapest in comparison to other Retail Energy Providers because they do not show gimmicky pricing and try to give the best value for real-world usages. You’ll typically see their prices per kWh drop significantly when you shop based on your usage history, and not based on the predefined usage levels that are required by law in Texas, which are 500/1,000/2,000 kilowatt-hours a month.

Some notable spark energy plans include:

Spark Energy Instant 12

This is a 12-month tiered plan where you will pay the same amount every month whenever your usage is below 1000 kilowatt-hours. This plan does not have any service fee and is good for customers with smaller homes or apartments that consistently use under 1,000-kilowatt hours a month.

Spark Energy Choice 15

This is a great plan for new customers that want to lock in a fixed rate. It’s a 15-month plan that has a low termination fee of $100 and no monthly service fees. What makes this plan stand out is its lower base energy charge. This becomes significant when you have big changes in your monthly usage, for example, you do not have to think about Bill Credits or Tiered Plans in the high usage summer months, or the lower usage winter months when choosing this energy plan. You can enjoy peace of mind knowing that you will have a consistently low fixed rate

Spark Energy Prepare And Protect 12

Prepare and protect yourself from extreme weather with a LumenAid solar Lantern that will be awarded to you for free when you sign up for this plan. This is a 12-month plan that will get you through almost any storm. In addition, Spark Energy will donate a lantern to an area in need on your behalf when you sign up. The plan includes an $8.99 monthly service fee and an early termination fee of $175.

Spark Energy Green Renewable Plans

Spark Energy Green Secure 12/24

When you want to make a positive impact on the environment you cannot go wrong with Spark Energy’s Green Secure Plan. They offer this plan 2 different term lengths: a 12-month plan, and a 24-month plan. When selecting one of these power plans, your energy usage will be offset by 100% with renewable energy credits (RECs) to support the energy that you consumed. These plans both feature a fixed rate and include a monthly service fee of $8.99 if your usage falls below 1,000 kilowatt-hours on the month. Both plans also include a $100 early termination fee if you cancel the plan before it ends.
