Moving to Era or Just Switching to a Cheaper Electricity Rate?
Whether you are moving to, or already live in Era, we want to make sure you are making an informed decision and getting the cheapest energy plan that is offered in your area.
With so many options to choose from, it is extremely time-consuming to find the best plan.
Electric companies advertise low prices on their websites to lure new clients in, only to find many additional fees and charges written in very small text.
Would you rather compare plans using a manual Excel spreadsheet with hundreds of rows, or would you rather let SlashPlan find the best and cheapest plan for you?
Our service is 100% FREE.
How do we do that?
We keep a list of all the available electricity plans in Era. We update it daily and present it to you on our comparison page in a format that is identical to the other plans that we monitor. This makes the comparison easy and intuitive.
Why Use SlashPlan To Compare Electricity Rates in Era?
Most people, especially ones who move to Texas from out of state or from regulated energy markets are not aware that they have the power to choose their electric provider.
Electricity companies are there to make a profit, and they will use different methods to charge you more. They use difficult-to-understand pricing tiers and terminology that is now known to the average consumer.
It’s extremely difficult and time-consuming to find the absolute best price without using a sophisticated comparison service like SlashPlan has to offer.
Still not sure why? Let me show you a common scenario:
2 energy companies (Company A & Company B) both charge 10¢ per Kilowatt Hour (kWh). Most people would look at it and think that the prices are identical, therefore their monthly bill would be identical too. Wrong!
Most of the prices that are advertised by the energy companies are Tiered Prices.
This means that you will only pay the advertised rate if your monthly usage is within the specified tier.
Going back to our scenario, it would look something like this:
Company A offers the advertised rate when your monthly usage is ABOVE 2000 kWh.
Company B offers this price when your monthly usage is UNDER 1000 kWh.
So if we go back now and ask the same question. Which company offers a better rate?
The answer to that is — it depends!
It depends on your monthly usage, and multiple other factors, such as monthly base charges, usage credits, discounts, time of usage, etc…
Calculating how much you’re ACTUALLY going to pay is impossible without taking all these parameters into account.
That’s where SlashPlan is here for you!
Our comparison page will show you plans from different electric providers in a standardized way that is easy to compare and understand. We include all the fees and discounts, so you can compare apples-to-apples.
The best way to shop for electricity is to see all your options in one place, where all the fees and discounts are already included in the final price.
Using our free service, you can now easily find this information in a matter of seconds!
With our comparison service, you can finally sort and filter plans to match your specific criteria. The best options will show on top of the list by default.
The rates we display on SlashPlan are the rates you’ll actually experience on your bill, inclusive of all hidden fees. We make sure that you’re not misled by the cheaper rates often advertised by electric providers… those advertised rates are associated with higher usage levels that many households never enjoy because their usage level never reaches that pricing tier.
SlashPlan has your best interest in our heart, and when shopping for energy, we are loyal to you. We act on your behalf to level the playing field and let the electric providers fight and compete to earn your business.
We supply you with all the info that you need in order to make the best purchasing decision. We only show rates from well-respected and reputable energy companies that you can rely on.
Are you not moving and still want to switch? Did you know that that by switching to a new provider at the end of your contract you can save hundreds of dollars every year? Lock-in a low rate today!

How To Find A Reliable Electricity Company in Era?
You may not be aware but in a deregulated energy state like Texas, the energy company that is selling you the electricity is NOT in charge of maintaining the power infrastructure or handling outages. Instead, a different utility company, known as a “TDSP” is in charge of doing that.
That’s confusing, right?
In order for energy prices to stay low and competitive, law-makers in Texas decided to eliminate monopolies by not allowing the TDSP’s to sell energy directly to the end-users.
So the Retail Providers sell you the electricity, but the TDSP’s are the ones delivering that electricity to your home or business, and maintaining the infrastructure, such as power lines and poles.
For any issues with blackouts, power outages, or the electric meter, you will need to contact the utility company directly.
What does this mean for us, the retail consumers?
The reason this introduction was important is because now you understand that the Energy Company you sign up with will not change the “reliability” of your electricity service. You get the same electricity, from the same source, regardless of which provider you sign up with.
So what’s the difference between all the other energy providers?
They all have different structured plans and prices.
Certain providers may only offer Green Energy Plans, while others may offer No-Deposit, or Short Term Month-To-Month plans.
If prices are the same, then the main differences that you should pay attention to are the provider’s customer service, early cancellation policy, and ease of communication.
When you sign up for a new plan using SlashPlan, you can be confident that you’re getting a great bargain, and will sign up with a well-known power company that has a proven track record of competitive prices and outstanding customer support.

Top 4 Things To Consider When Signing Up
Other than price, these are the top points to consider when enrolling in a new plan:
Monthly Usage – This will directly affect your effective price. To find the best possible price, it’s best if you have your previous 12-month usage history. You can then input that data into our calculator to find out exactly how much you will pay for the new plan.
Rate Type – Some people prefer a long-term peace of mind that comes with a Fixed Rate plan. Others prefer a more dynamic, sometimes lower rate that changes monthly according to the Electricity Price Index.
Term Length – Would you rather have peace of mind for the long term (12+ months), or would like to stick to a short-term 3-6 month plan?
Green Energy – How important is it to you? Would you like to help the environment by signing up for a Green Energy Plan?
To read more we have a blog with plenty of resources that explain everything you need to know about the energy market and useful cost-saving tactics and tips.

What Information Do I Need To Provide When Signing-Up?
It’s important to remember that SlashPlan is not your electricity provider. We created a marketplace that allows you to easily compare and sign-up (or switch) your electricity plan.
When you sign up for a new plan, your new provider requires us to send them some of the enrollment data.
We do not store sensitive information on our servers and make sure to protect your private data. We will never sell or share it with anyone!
Although most people prefer a streamlined online enrollment, if you feel uncomfortable submitting your information online you can also enroll over the phone.
This normally is the information an electric company will require you to provide:
- Full Name
- Service Address
- Billing Address
- Social Security Number or Driver’s License Number (to determine if a deposit is required)
- Requested service start date
- Meter Number – Each service address in Texas has a unique meter number, also known as an ESID. When you enroll online we will find your ESID number based on your address. If you enroll over the phone, you can also find this number in your previous electric bill.
