Bounce Energy is a legacy brand now

Bounce Energy should not be treated like a current standalone Texas signup page. Centrica announced in 2013 that Direct Energy would acquire Bounce Energy, and Direct Energy described Bounce as a privately held retail electricity provider based in Houston.

That history matters because old provider pages, email records, and comparison content can outlive the brand's active enrollment path. During this refresh, the stored Bounce website no longer resolved, so it should not be used as a customer link.

Why Bounce mattered in Texas electricity

Bounce was known for an online-first retail model. Direct Energy's acquisition release emphasized Bounce's digital marketing, e-commerce platform, rewards, and consumer-focused service model. At the time, Bounce served residential and small business customers in Texas, Pennsylvania, and New York.

That explains why the name still appears in Texas electricity searches. Bounce was a real provider brand with a meaningful customer base. The current question is not whether Bounce existed; it is whether a current Bounce-branded offer is actually available and documented.

If you were a Bounce customer

If you have an old Bounce account record, compare it with your most recent bill. The current bill should identify the provider responsible for service, billing, renewal, and support. If the account moved under Direct Energy or another successor path, that current provider's documents matter most.

Keep older Bounce documents if they include contract dates, assignment language, or cancellation terms. They can help explain how the account changed. They should not be used to pick a new plan today.

Avoid stale enrollment paths

Do not enter personal or payment information through a Bounce link unless you can verify that it belongs to the current provider handling the account. A broken or recycled brand domain is a common risk with old energy-provider names.

If a salesperson or comparison page presents Bounce as a current option, ask for the legal seller, current REP certificate, EFL, Terms of Service, and customer-support channel. If those details point to Direct Energy or another active provider, review that provider's current documents.

For new Texas service, compare active providers with current EFLs and a working enrollment path. If you are specifically looking for the Bounce experience because of a past account, start with Direct Energy and verify whether any current product is connected to that brand.

This page is most useful as a status note. Bounce has a real Texas history, but current plan shopping should be based on live offers from active providers, not an old brand name.
