Bulb is best read as a legacy green-energy profile

Bulb became known for simple, green electricity, and older Texas provider material ties the brand to PUCT certificate 10266. For current shopping, though, Bulb should not be treated like a live Texas signup brand.

ElectricityPlans now describes Bulb Energy as no longer operating in the US, and the broader Bulb business was acquired by Octopus Energy in the UK. That makes this page most useful as historical context for shoppers who encounter the Bulb name.

The Octopus connection can confuse Texas shoppers

Octopus completed the acquisition of Bulb in December 2022 through the UK special administration process. That acquisition was primarily about Bulb's UK customer base, but it can still confuse shoppers who remember Bulb's Texas launch or find old Bulb plan pages.

Do not assume a Bulb-branded Texas plan is available because Octopus is active in Texas. If a current offer is tied to Octopus, review it as an Octopus Energy plan with Octopus documents, terms, and support channels.

What older Bulb claims meant

Older Texas material described Bulb as simple, cheap, and green, with renewable electricity backed by Texas wind and solar renewable resources. That was useful positioning at the time, especially for shoppers who wanted fewer plan choices and cleaner electricity.

Those historical claims should not be used to enroll today. Renewable content, fees, and contract structure can change quickly, and a retired brand's old plan language may not map to any current product.

If Bulb appears on an old bill
