WTU Retail Energy is a familiar name for many West Texas electricity shoppers. Provider references still list WTU under certificate 10022, but the official website did not connect during this refresh.

That combination calls for caution. A recognized legacy name is not the same as a current, easy-to-verify enrollment path.

What to confirm before choosing WTU

If a WTU Retail Energy offer appears for your address, start with the EFL and Terms of Service. Confirm that the legal name, certificate number, customer-care phone, and email match the current provider listing.

Then compare the plan like any other Texas electricity offer: energy charge, base charge, TDSP delivery charges, cancellation fee, contract term, and renewal rules.

Why the website issue matters

A down or unreachable provider site makes it harder for customers to confirm support, account tools, payment options, and current plan language. It does not automatically prove the provider record is invalid, but it raises the bar for verification.
