Express Energy - You have the Power To Choose Your Energy Company
Energy deregulation in Texas, implemented in 2002, has given consumers the power to choose their electricity provider from a variety of options, leading to lower prices and improved customer service.
Deregulation works by fostering competition among providers, prompting them to offer a range of rates and plans to attract customers, resulting in lower prices, enhanced customer service, and more innovative products and services.
Consumers can compare rates from different providers to find the best deal for their needs, and have the freedom to switch providers or plans if they find a better deal elsewhere.
However, with so many options available it can be difficult to find the best plan, that’s where SlashPlan comes in.
We help you by comparing the best energy plans on the market for you, by getting live rates from energy companies, and displaying them all in one dashboard so you can find the cheapest plan in a matter of seconds. We also calculate the final price for each plan, including all the hidden fees that the energy companies are trying hard to hide.
With SlashPlan you get a real apples-to-apples comparison of all the energy plans and can confidently shop for the best energy rate.
Express Energy Residential Electricity Plans
Express Energy offers a variety of energy plans to fit different needs and preferences of customers. These plans include fixed-rate plans, variable-rate plans, month-to-month plans, and green plans. When choosing a plan, customers should consider factors such as their home’s size, lifestyle, and current energy usage.
Express Energy’s fixed-rate plans have a minimum contract term of 3 months with a consistent price per kilowatt-hour (kWh) throughout the length of the contract. These plans may be a good fit for customers who value consistency and predictability in their energy costs.
The price of these plans can fluctuate based on current market prices. Express Energy offers variable-rate plans without any minimum term requirements. These plans may be a good fit for customers who want to take advantage of lower market prices.
Express Energy offers plans with month-to-month flexibility, which means the contract term is on a month-to-month basis. These plans may be a good fit for customers who want the flexibility to change plans or are in transition.
Express Energy Business Energy Plans
Express Energy specializes in providing residential electricity services and does not offer plans for commercial clients.
However, there are many other Retail Electric Providers (REPs) that offer electricity service to commercial customers. Business owners can choose from a variety of plans, including fixed-rate, variable-rate, and month-to-month plans, similar to those available to residential customers. Additionally, switching providers is also possible and is often easier for businesses.
When choosing an energy plan, business owners should consider factors such as the square footage of the business, the age of the building, and historical electricity usage. It's worth noting that not all REPs offer commercial electricity plans.
If you are a business owner seeking a REP that offers commercial service, SlashPlan can assist you in finding the best company and rates for your business.

Express Energy FAQ
How long does it take to start service?
In most cases, the electricity service can be set up on the same day the customer requests it. The request for power will be promptly forwarded to the local TDU (Transmission and Distribution Utility) and they may charge an additional fee for same-day service. It's important to note that requests made after 4 PM are typically processed the following day, with the exception of Sundays.
Does Express Energy have cancellation fees?
Cancellation fees vary depending on your plan and length of service. Please refer to the EFL document to determine if any early termination fees apply.
If you move to a new house, the cancellation fees will be waived.
Does Express Energy offer green energy plans?
Yes. Express Energy's standard plans provide 11% of renewable energy, while our green plans offer 100% renewable energy.
Does Express Energy require a deposit?
Express Energy will require a deposit if you do not pass a certain credit level.
They only review your utility payment history when assessing service eligibility.
The deposit, along with interest, will be returned to you after 12 months of consecutive on-time payments or you leave with a good payment history. For more information, please refer to the Terms of Service Agreement (TOS).
What is the best Express Energy plan?
While each customer's situation is unique, it is typically recommended that customers planning to stay in Texas consider a 12-month plan. The 12-month fixed rate plan provides a stable price for an entire year and eliminates the need to constantly monitor energy prices. Additionally, if the customer chooses to move, the service will be transferred to the new location.
